Feel free to WhatsApp me to discuss this unheated aquamarine. I can video chat with you to show you the gem and/or book an appointment to see it in Hatton Garden at my place of work.
Eric says: “ ‘Aquamarine? But are not aquamarines blue?’ you may say. Yes the well known aquamarines are blue but many aquamarines owe their colour to being heated from their original pale green colour seen when mined. Heating drives off any green and yellow colour leaving blue. The name Aquamarine derives from the colour of sea-water - sea-water I have observed in many countries this summer is sea-green! I love the limpid delicate green of this gem.
Because heat treatment of aquamarine is the normal practice in the gem trade, completely natural, unheated "no-heat" aquamarines are highly sought after by gem lovers.
My photographs and video do not capture the beauty of its hue. Must be seen with your own eyes!
This large precious stone rated between 7 and 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, is suitable for everyday jewellery, ideal as a stunning statement piece in a unique designed necklace or brooch. Or outrageously mounted in a bracelet! Maybe too large in a ring - but your imagination will be the judge!”
132.82 carats, emerald cut, measuring 32.7 × 29.6 × 20.9 mm. No eye-visible inclusions, not heated or treated in any way. A natural gem; I am unsure of its geographical origin.
