Eric says: “Although I have admired diamonds for decades in my gem career I have always had a soft spot for garnets, and in particular the rare demantoid garnets sourced from the Ural mountains of Russia. Superb green colours in medium to vivid saturation sometimes complimented by a yellow secondary hue, having a brilliance and lustre close to the superior diamond and, of course, visible in the table facet the famous fibrous inclusions resembling a horse’s tail (horse-tail inclusions). One of the few precious stones where the presence of an inclusion enhances its desirability and value.”

0.51 carat round brilliant demantoid garnet, measuring 4.9mm diameter by 3.0mm depth, of green saturation supported by a yellowish secondary hue, well fashioned with a lovely horsetail inclusion in the table facet seen when observed under 10x magnification. Russian origin, unheated and not treated in any way.
