An antique cut cushion diamond, referred by the diamond trade as an Old Mine Brilliant diamond. It measures approx. 5.0 x 4.7 x 4.0 mm ,weighing approx. 0.60 carats.

Assessed as H/I colour and SI1 clarity, set in a modern 18ct white gold hallmarked ring.

Ring size N. Weight of ring is 3.9 grams.

Eric says: “This Old Mine diamond was cut and polished in Europe, probably London or possibly Amsterdam, before the 1870s when technology and power required to shape a diamond’s outline to a perfect circle were introduced in to diamond cutting factories. You can see the diamond has a cushion shape outline; rather pleasing to my eye.

The geographical origin of the diamond is probably South Africa, possibly Brazil or India. There is no scientific method to determine the geographical origin of natural diamonds.”

The 18ct UK hallmarked ring is of modern manufacture.
